A German artist who has achieved international recognition is Tina Buchholtz. She is well known for her large, abstract work with its ordered thin lines and dots. Although abstract, Buchholtz’s art makes a continual reference to the figurative with titles like Elevator and The Last Dinner. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Hong Kong, Zurich, and Rome. Another very interesting young artist is Michael Just whose sculptures and installations question the idea of space (there will be more on his sculpture in the next two weeks)

To me color is as necessary as breathing. Color means passion, something sensuous. With color I can give shape to ideas and feelings. My inspiration comes from words, stories,
or music.

I had a passion for painting since childhood. I choose not to go to art school, because I was determined to find my own style and did not want to be influenced by anyone, but to find my own way of painting. I am confident that the abstract way is the right one for me.

I am interested in the three dimentional, I think it triggers the viewers imagination to find a focus in my work.
With her technique she creates a rythmic movement, the strokes of her spatula dictate the direction, to become a homogeneous whole and behind the structured surface the spatial depth is filled with light and shadows.

This is the artist's second solo exhibition in the gallery. She exhibits regularly in Berlin, Zurich and Rome and her works can be found in the collection of the German Parliament, SAP, Hasso Plattner Foundation and private collection. They are also auctioned by Neumeister Auktionshaus in Munich.

"In Fireflies the flight paths of the glowing worms appear as if they have been under long term exposure. Dancing and vibrating points of light merge into one another in a sea of light on a dark night. Tina Buchholz has succeeded in capturing light and movement simultaneously and making this visible." - Viola Tallowitz-Scharf, Art Historian.
