Born in Minbu, Burma, in 1948, WPM, as he is affectionately known amongst friends, is one of the true masters of the art of still life. Working in oils, watercolours or pastels, his intimate rich compositions show that he understands the use of colours in a way seldom realised. Respected by other contemporary artists in his own country for the simplicity with which he treats each subject, his works bring the minute into splendour
