Zhang Jie, born in Chongqing, August 1963, graduated from Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, in 1988 with a master degree of arts. He is now the Vice-president and professor of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, member of China Artist Association, member of Council of Chongqing Artist Association, deputy Secretary-general of Chongqing Culture Development Association, Vice-president of Chongqing Educational Calligraphy and Painting Association.
His research interest is the expressive language of oil painting.
2007 In charge of Sino-British Creativity in Arts Education and Seminar.
Three pieces of China Landscape Series were selected to attend International Gallery Expo 2007 Taipei. Oil painting Calling, Burning Blood and Treasure on the Earth were selected to attend Inherited and Transcend-Sichuan Artists 30-year Academic Retrospective Exhibition. (Boyi Gallery, Beijing)
Eight oil paintings were issued on the book Masters in China Arts Academies of Sichuan Arts Publishing House. Oil painting China Landscape and Composition of the Earth were selected to attend Return and Union-Exchange Exhibition of Artists from Mainland and Hong Kong. (Sichuan Art Gallery, Chengdu) Six oil paintings were issued on magazine International Communication by National Ministry of Culture.
2006 Five pieces of oil painting works were selected to attend Boundless Mountains and Rivers Oil Painting Works Invitational Exhibition in South and North China (China Gallery, Beijing). Oil painting Green Hope was selected to Global Chinese Fine Arts Works (Taiwan 2005). More than ten oil painting works and dissertations were issued on magazine Arts Review. Oil painting Mountains and Rivers, and Memory of Whistle Stop was selected to China Collection 2006. Might Horses and Mountains were collected by Britain collector.
2005 Attended the Asian and Pacific Fine Arts Education Conference U (Hong Kong). Oil Painting Landscape was selected to attend the first China Fine Arts Works Auction. Oil painting Field was selected to attend Chengxin Auction (Beijing).
2004 Oil painting Italian Streets won the first prize of Chongqing Fine Arts & Photography Competition. Oil painting Walk on Clouds was selected to attend Each Other Contemporary Arts Exhibition (held by Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Toulouse France) during Sino-France Culture Year. Oil Painting Tear Stains on Earth was invited to attend Blue Space Academic Invitational Exhibition.
2003 Oil painting City was selected to attend the Third China Oil Painting Exhibition and was award as the Excellent Works in Chongqing. Oil painting Marks�Uwas selected to large-scaled Album China Oil Painting Collected Edition. The elementary level fine arts book Painting and Color were published by Guangxi Fine Arts Publishing House.
2002 Oil painting Mountains and Rivers Series were selected to Sino-Korea International Communication Exhibition to celebrate the friendship between two countries. Oil painting Italian Streets was selected to attend China Small-sized Oil Painting Exhibition. (China Gallery, Beijing)
2001 Oil painting Earth Vein was selected to attend the China Contemporary Exhibition Chongqing Chili in Kassel Germany. Research on Fine Arts Thinking and New Module to Contemporary Fine Arts Education was supported by the Ministry of Education as the project of excellent young teacher. Oil painting Misty was selected to Contemporary China Fine Arts Collected Edition.
2000 Dissertation Three Levels of Colors Teaching and other works were issued on Dialogues on Teaching of Oil Painting, Hebei Arts Publishing House. Oil painting Marks issued on Jiangsu Pictorial (6/2000 issue). Three oil paintings were issued on collection of portraits, China Oil Paintings.
1999 Monograph of Thinking Style and Creation in Fine Arts were issued by Guangxi Arts Publishing House. A lot of works and articles were briefed on Arts Observation (6/1999 issue), Arts World (2/1992 issue) and Sichuan Daily. Oil painting Earth Series were collected by Shanghai Arts Gallery.
1998 Oil painting Spirit of Mountains Series attended the Fourteenth New Painters and New Works Exhibition organized by China Arts Association.
1997 As a member of China Oil Paintings Master Delegation organized by Culture Ministry and China Oil Paintings Association went to Italy, making academic exchanges and holding oil paintings exhibition. Oil painting Lights Shining Tonight was selected to attend 1997 China Arts Exhibition organized by Culture Ministry (China History Museum). Oil painting To the Sky was selected to attend the Fourth National Sports Arts Exhibition and won the prize of Sichuan Excellent Works. Album of the Tradition and Modern-Zhang Jie Oil Painting Collection was issued in Taiwan.
1996 Oil painting Moment of History was awarded the prize of Sichuan Excellent Works and collected by China Military Museum, and attended Hundred Masters of Oil Paintings Exhibition of the mainland and Taiwan (Taiwan), China.

Most of the images depict the sky of Tibet. To the artist, mountains represent eternity and stability, while cloud constantly changes its shape. By presenting the cloud and the mountain together, the varied is contrasted with the static. The artist has incorporated chinese ink painting technique into his oil paintings such as random splashing
