Win Pe Myint (Burma) Homage To Nature - The artist Win Pe Myint has created miniature landscape oil paintings showing nature at different times of the day and at different moods. Bringing the minute to splendour, his works are impressionistic and illustrates what Claude Monet once said '...landscape does not exist in its own right ... it is the surrounding atmosphere which gives the true value.' |

Karina Wisniewska & Carlo Magno (Switzerland & Philippines) Perfect. Imperfect. - Karina's monochrome works and line paintings featuring in this exhibition resemble symphony movements. Some of her works are homage to avant-garde composers like John Cage. Randomly drawn lines with varying thickness and intensity, and what seems like woven texture brings a timeless appeal to her works. Carlo's trademark is the use of metallic copper and bronze, dabs of circle tempered with shades of grey. His works like Karina’s have strong texture and great control of brushstrokes. |

Dominic Rubio & Tina Buchholtz (Philippines & Germany) Good Times Bad Times - Dominic Rubio's works are inspired by the Philippines during the latter part of the Spanish and then the early American colonial period. His concern is to capture the nostalgia and romanticism of these periods while giving them a modern sensibility and whimsical appeal. The paintings of Tina Buchholtz are not impressionistic, but her use of rhythm and light is similar to impressionistic paintings. Here, the quaintness with its regular iteration and strictness rather becomes an ornament but systematic atmosphere. |
