Xue Mo 'Interpreting Mona Lisa' (China/Inner Mongolia)
Interpreting Mona Lisa - The viewer cannot fail but to notice the resemblance of Xue's portraits to the works of artists from the Italian Renaissance, especially Leonardo Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa." In fact, Xue's portraits are often dubbed 'Chinese Mona Lisa' as she is attempting to capture the gracefulness and strength beneath the strong faces of her female Mongolian sitters in a Chinese context. |

Portraits de Chine - Wang Gang has been living and working in Paris since 1996. He is a member of La Maison des Artistes de France. His portraits evoke a feeling of otherworldliness, often daydreaming or contemplating. No matter whether the person is looking at himself in the mirror, sipping tea or on a swing, he is imbued with inner peace which could be representation of the artist himself. Working in oil, the artist achieves an almost patina like finish on the surface of the canvas. |

Playtime - The works are sentimental portraits of childhood relics and there are chupa chups, legos, jewel cakes and pez to please the young ones and the young-at-heart. Instead of portraying them as realistic as possible, the artist has painted these objects in isolation to evoke a sense of displacement and nostalgia. |
