In cooperation with Hong Kong Art Gallery Week SOHO and Sheung Wan Art Lates, Karin Weber Gallery is pleased to present A Console Resemble: Sound Artist Andio Lai’s reinterpretation of Soundscapes: New Works by Karina Wisniewska.

Lai’s work is a dialogue with Wisniewska’s Soundscape exhibition. Using an instrument software system and graphic projection, Lai rearranges the texture and color on the canvas. This allows the artists to experiment with a visual medium as it encounters sound. The final result is a layering of added dimensions to the existing canvases and exhibition, which Lai says creates “multiple soundscapes.”

Andio Lai Chung Man is a sound performer and instrument-builder, who lives and works in Hong Kong. He received a BA in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong in 2015, and he is currently pursuing a MA in Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His works include comics, media installation and performances. The artist performs frequently in art spaces throughout Hong Kong, including Sonic Anchor, Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong (CMHK).

Karina Wisniewska, Born in Venice, enjoyed a truly cosmopolitan childhood and an early career as an accomplished and internationally recognized concert pianist. She turned to painting as a full-time passion and commitment in 2000, when an accident placed her on a new and equally rewarding artistic journey. Says Wisniewska, “I was determined to forget what I had practiced in order to allow myself to flow freely and to cultivate a new momentum in a new medium.” She currently lives and works in Switzerland.

Wisniewska’s works are widely collected and exhibited at art galleries and art fairs around the world. They can be found in the collections of the Musée Abbatiale de Payerne, Switzerland, Museum zu Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland, the Espace de l’Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux, France, and corporate collections including Credit Suisse, UBS, and VP Bank, Vaduz. Important private collectors include Lord Norman Foster amongst many others.
