The ‘Dragon Ball x Nursery Rhymes x Ancient Painting’ series is Chui Pui Chee’s creation in response to contemporary cultural trends. Chui draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture such as nursery rhymes, classical literature, slang and poetry, and combines it with the comic classic Akira Toriyama’s work ‘Dragon Ball.’ Although the work is painted in an antique style, present-day influences offer a contemporary edge.
